Oh La La, French Sounds of Summer 2nd Edition!

What a delight it was to be invited to perform at the French Sounds of Summer 2025 at the French Embassy on Sunny Sunday!

In France, every day on the First day of summer, all the villages and cities are hosting music, wherever they can, in schools, churches, in the streets, in communal halls and community centres. Villages host their local band, bigger cities organise concert with big names, but regardless of your budget, on the 21st June every year without fail you will find music. I remember this festival very fondly. So it was an honour for us to be part of the first Edition of the French Sounds of Summer last year, and to be called back to play on the second edition this year!

There was wind but the sun was out and the view was great! The market was fun, and the food did not disappoint. I may or may not have bought a lot of cheese, but the evidence is disappearing quickly.

À l’année prochaine!

This may well be our last gig for this year, and what a lovely way to finish the year it was!
Look we’re even on the event’s video on the French Embassy’s Instagram!

Hot of the (virtual) Press

You know what’s exciting??? Releasing our second album, that’s what!
We finally decided it was ready, and push the “Go” button!
Dreams of Saturnalia” is 11 songs of pure Daybed Promises goodness, including a new band version of Jedda’s old favourite “Secret Fireman”, some punchy titles like “Old soul”, and apocalypse song called “Let it all burn” and a firmly worded revenge song, “Bastard”.

So waste no time! Listen to it, stream it at your leisure on Bandcamp, and if you feel like being a patron of the art, buy the album!

We’re on a roll!

It looks like we’re on a roll for playing at France-related event!
We have been invited to perform at the French Embassy’s “Summer”French Sounds of Summer” event on the first of December!
It’s an invite only event, but if you are part of the French community in Canberra you will have received the invite!
Oh I so hope there will be cheese!
A bientot!

Sunshine and Onion Soup

We had an absolute ball at the FAPS fete, for an unplugged performance, that we hope blew you away. And if we didn’t, the wind probably did the job for us!
But thanks to the magic of tape, we pushed through.
Thanks FAPS for having us, thanks to the courageous parents who stuck around to listen, and thanks to the bunch of kids who came to us between the songs to tell us they liked the music, danced along, and ran after my sheets when they flew away!!!!

And thanks Theresa for the photo!

G-rated songs at FAPS coming soon

We will be playing at the fête of the French-Australian Pre-School!
This is a bit exciting!
We loved playing for Telopea Park School last year, and this is very cool that someone from the Pre-School was there and liked our music!
There are a few songs we are not super comfortable singing in a pre-school as some have rather mature theme, but even so, we will be playing a one our set, Saturday 18th May at 12:30 pm!

Thanks Theresa for that cool photo from our George Harcourt Inn gig in March!
Don’t forget to check out FAPS Events page on FB and mark it on your calendar!
